The Las Vegas Review-Journal, Nevada’s leading news organization, is looking for an organized, self-starting, competitive sports reporter to cover the defending Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights. The team has a special relationship with the city, having launched Las Vegas’ transition into one of the best sports markets in the country. Its sizable fan base expects authoritative, well-sourced coverage that gets at the story behind the story. We want someone who is passionate, creative, eager to work on audio and video platforms and can write with expertise about one of the most successful teams in the NHL.

Responsibilities include:
— Writing game advances, game stories and enterprise features;
— Building sources to break news and craft unique angles;
— Creating a thorough digital strategy to cover the team;
— Being active on social media to promote coverage;
— Answering reader questions and soliciting feedback;
— Producing podcasts and appearing on Review-Journal video programming when required.
Requirements:
— At least five years of experience at a mid-size or metro news organization. The ideal candidate would have at least two years of experience covering the NHL;
— Expertise in hockey rules and history;
— Elite, engaging writing style;
— Command of grammar and AP style;
— A strong social media following and understanding of best practices;
— Ability to work around the team’s schedule;
— An ability to react to breaking news quickly and write under deadlines;
— Ability to collaborate with editors, columnists, photographers and other team members;
— Must be organized and adept at planning
— A willingness to contribute to coverage of other sports or special events when absolutely necessary (such as a Super Bowl, F1, the 2026 Frozen Four or other high-profile games).
