Student Contest approved
I am proud to announce that the Associated Press Sports Editors executive committee has approved by vote a student sports journalism contest.
I put forth this initiative to expand our student initiative: to grow our student membership and to increase the number of APSE student chapters on campuses across the country. It gives us our best opportunity to get young sports journalists involved in APSE with the hope that they will carry this organization far into the future.
Details of the contest are still being sorted out, and I welcome your input. Many of our members have made good suggestions, all of which will be given consideration as the contest takes form.

The plan is to announce the details in January and to spread the word to colleges and universities as they start their upcoming semesters, to give every student sports journalist notice and a chance to participate.
