Outsports has been approved for membership in APSE.
As required by APSE bylines, a notice of Outsports’ application was posted on the APSE website for 10 days. APSE’s executive committee then voted without dissent to approve the application.
Founded in 1999, Outsports is a web-based outlet that focuses on coverage of LGBT issues in sports. The organizations has two editors, Cyd Zeigler and Jim Buzinski, who create and solicit content.
 Contributors include many one-time writers who share their personal journeys to acceptance, among them LGBT athletes, coaches and other people in sports. Outsports also has regular contributors, most notably Erik Hall.
Outsports is the world’s leading publication on LGBT issues in sports, from athletes and coaches coming out publicly to identifying areas of homophobia in sports. An integral part of Vox Media, Outsports works regularly with other major sports media outlets (including ESPN and the New York Times) to provide fair coverage of LGBT issues in sports.
Outsports averages about 500,000 unique visitors per month.
