As much fun as our virtual summer conference in June was, there’s no doubt it left some of us who are used to multiple sessions on a range of topics yearning for a little bit more shop talk.

To help fill the void, the Boston Globe is inviting all members of Associated Press Sports Editors to join us for a Zoom webinar for our subscribers titled “The Sports Editors: A Discussion About The Globe Sports Pages Through The Years,” on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 6 p.m.

We’ve invited all of the former Boston Globe sports editors to join us for a discussion of the Globe sports pages and sports journalism through the years.

Moderated by CBS Sports broadcaster Lesley Visser, who wrote for the Globe in the 1970s and 80s, the panel will include Dave Smith (1970-1978), Vince Doria (1978-1989), Don Skwar (1989-2004), Joe Sullivan (2004-2018), and Matt Pepin (2018-present).

The session will feature a conversation about how the Globe sports section has changed over the years, and also look at how it’s stood the test of time. Great moments in Boston sports coverage, untold stories, and some good old fashioned laughs will also be part of this entertaining program.

Pre-registration is required by adding your name to a spreadsheet created specifically for APSE signups and linked here by 4 p.m. on Aug. 25. The Globe’s event teams will send access information to each registrant after the registration deadline. Please only use this form, as it is a subscriber-only event and this is the workaround to allow APSE members to watch.
