The Daily Herald, suburban Chicago’s source for news, is looking for a sports- and news-minded copy editor to join its night copy desk. We are looking for a journalism grad who has a background in editing on multiple platforms – print, web, social media, other electronic communications – as well as headline writing on multiple platforms, and pagination and print design.
Must be able to work under deadline pressure, respond to breaking news, have excellent visual journalism skills, be comfortable working with content management systems, and write conversationally on social media platforms.
Experience editing for a college newspaper or news organization along with solid internship experience expected. Must be able to exhibit solid news judgment. This position will require editing for both the news and sports desk, so a well-rounded knowledge of sports is required. You will be required to work nights and weekends.
