Open-Rank Sports Journalism Faculty Position
 
Indiana University’s School of Journalism on the Indiana University – Purdue University at Indianapolis campus seeks a faculty member with qualifications appropriate for appointment at the rank of tenured associate or full professor, beginning Fall 2012 or Spring 2013. Candidates’ research interests should be relevant to the important issues of the day concerning sports journalism—both nationally and globally. Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in a relevant academic field, a well-established program of nationally recognized research and publication, a commitment to classroom teaching, a record of mentoring graduate students, and a record of outreach and service.  Other desirable qualifications include the ability to work collaboratively with scholars in other disciplines on campus and internationally; professional experience in a relevant mass-communications medium; a record of success securing external grants to support research projects; and entrepreneurial/leadership experience in relevant academic institutions (journal editor, association president, institute director, etc.).
