Lee Enterprises is looking for a journalist with a strong design background to join our growing national desk in Madison, Wisconsin. The designer will work with our national sports desk to design and distribute relevant, timely national news to dozens of Lee publications across the country.
This position is a full-time position with the possibility of dayside hours. Some night, weekend and holiday work will be necessary as staffing and events dictate.
The right candidate will have:
· An understanding of sports
· A passion for thinking creatively to produce dynamic visual storytelling
· Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality work on deadline
· History of collaboration with other designers, editors and newsroom employees to complete projects
Bonuses:
· Ability to edit copy using Associated Press style and write headlines that enhance design and help our audiences understand stories
· Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience using newsroom communication tools including Google Drive and instant messaging platforms
