The final two section mandatory dates for the 2012 APSE Contest are Thursday, Aug. 23 and Sunday, Oct. 21.

The first two dates were drawn and announced at the summer conference in Chicago in June. Those dates are Monday, March 26 and Sunday, May 20.

Information about how to enter the 2012 section and writing contest will be posted soon, including a list of category catchers. The deadline for postmark will be Jan. 23. An important rule change for 2012: Editors may submit electronic library printouts in the writing categories, provided all marks or wording that might identify the newspaper is removed. The entries must be unfolded, 8 1/2 x 11.

Dues must be paid to be eligible to compete in the annual APSE contest. You can sign up at this link to sign up.

Judging will take place Saturday, Feb. 9-Wednesday, Feb. 13 at the Doubletree Suites by Hilton in the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando. It's not too late to sign up to judge, and more judges are needed. If interested, contact APSE 1st Vice President Tim Stephens at tim.stephens@cbsinteractive.com.

All rooms are suites and are $135 a night. Deadline to reserve a room is Jan. 16.
