The program is set for the APSE Northwest Region Meeting on May 3 at the Tacoma News Tribune.

The session will cover many of the major realities we face: "Doing More with Less," "Beyond blogging (embracing social media)," "Future shock (the next big changes on the horizon)" and "Improving Prep Coverage." In addition, we’ll bring back "AP Firing Line," allowing us to hear from AP Seattle about recent changes, and we’ll have the "Best in the Northwest" slide show of some of the best work we’ve done in the past year. Please take a few minutes to send PDFs of any pages or links to any videos to Jon Fisch at jfisch@seattletimes.com by Tuesday.

Kevin Brown of The Herald in Everett, Wash., the Northwest’s current vice chair, assumes chair duties after this meeting. The next vice chair will be elected at this meeting.

I’ve yet to attend one of these regional meetings where I didn’t come away with a handful of great ideas and a renewed sense of purpose. With budgets and staffs dwindling, with more demands translating to less time to plan and brainstorm, it’s awfully easy to go into the office instead. Try to come anyway. You deserve it.
