The agenda is set for the APSE Northeast Region meeting, scheduled for Monday, April 28 at Quinnipac University in Hamden, Conn.

The region meeting is open to APSE members as well as non-members is free. Editors, writers and students are encouraged to attend. The session will include a lunch sponsored by host Quinnipac University.

From I-91: Take exit 10 (Route 40 connector) to Route 10 North (Whitney Avenue). Go for 0.75 miles and make a left onto Sherman Avenue. The sign on Whitney Avenue points to the Sports Complex. The entrance to campus is approx. 0.25 miles on the right, across from a hiking/bike trail and its parking lot.

From Route 15 (Merritt Parkway): Take exit 61, Route 10 North (Whitney Avenue). Go for 2.7 miles and turn left onto Sherman Avenue. The entrance to campus is approx. 0.25 miles on the right across from a hiking/bike trail and its parking lot.

Parking is available on surface lots just below the student center.

The thirst for stats and data is growing. How can this love of numbers be incorporated into daily reporting? Dean Oliver, Director of Production Analytics, ESPN, and Dan Brooks, founder of BrooksBaseball.net / author, Baseball Prospectus, will share their expertise.

Relationships between colleges and newspapers

Rutgers athletic director Julie Hermann created a stir with her comments to a journalism class about the Newark Star Ledger. The relationship between the two is quite strained, but is that the norm? What kind of relationships to college athletic directors and sports Information directors have with the newspapers that cover them? Panelists Steve Politi of Newark Star-Ledger; Steve Conn, SID at Yale and Mike Enright, assistant AD/communications from UConn will discuss the issue.
