3 Wire Sports is overseen by Alan Abrahamson. More:
- I spent 17 years with the L.A. Times, 20 years online or on-air with NBC, wrote two NYT bestselling books (with Michael Phelps, Apolo Ohno), and earned multiple awards, including 2000 APSE first-place enterprise reporting, 2002 National Headliner Award sportswriting, 2004 LA Press Club sports journalist of the year, 2020 AIPS international sports writers association first-place column/pandemic, more.
- I launched 3 Wire Sports in 2010. It was described in James Patterson and Mark Sullivan’s 2012 bestselling novel “Private Games” as “the world’s best source of information about the (Olympic) Games and the culture that surrounds them.”
- Typically, the site gets about 10k visitors monthly. As you might imagine for a site that covers the Olympics, it gets hits from all over the world. During the Games, traffic increases considerably. I broke the key story in women’s boxing at the Paris Games; the August numbers were 190,000+.
- Why I want to join: I am remiss in not seeking to join earlier. My editors at the L.A. Ttimes included Dave Morgan, John Cherwa and Randy Harvey. And, of course, Dwyre. APSE is an important organization in our field.
