Hello editors, reporters and APSE alumni!

Hope you’ve all had a great Hanukkah and Christmas season and had some time off with friends and family over the holidays.

As we all get back into work mode, we’re in the home stretch ahead of the 2023 APSE Contest. We’ve got a little more information for you and a couple of reminders.

CONTEST QUESTIONS

If you are unsure of anything contest related as you are preparing entries, email contest chair Dan Spears at apsecontest@gmail.com or call/text 910-409-4422. The contest email notifications are officially on for my phone, and I’m back from vacation and ready to go.

FINAL PRINT PORTFOLIO DATES

APSE President Naila-Jean Meyers was my “witness” to choosing our final mandatory week for the contest – which is Dec. 11-17, 2023.

This means you MUST have either a weekday mandatory from this week (Dec. 11-16) or the Sunday mandatory for Dec. 17. Remember that our first mandatory week was Monday, Feb. 20 through Sunday, Feb. 26.

Take a look at the full Print Portfolio Rules in the official contest rules that we shared just before Christmas for full information.

GOOGLE DRIVE FOLDERS SHARED

Anyone that has renewed their membership, as of 4 p.m., Friday, Dec. 29, has their Google Drive folder linked inside the official contest rules

If you have NOT renewed, you can still do that ahead of the Jan. 15 contest submission deadline. Here’s the link to renew.

Please email executive director Bill Eichenberger with specific membership questions at billapse707@gmail.com. Bill keeps me up to date on additions and renewals made outside the website.

SIGN UP FOR JUDGING

Whether it’s you, or one of your reporters, we need judges, both remote and in-person Feb. 25-29 at the Doubletree at Disney Springs, Orlando.

Email APSE Conference Coordinator Glen Crevier at gncrev66@gmail.com if you have questions about the winter conference. You can book your hotel room here.

Remote judging will be set up in January after submissions are made, but signing up now helps me start set up the judging groups by time zones and amount of available time weekly.

Here’s the link to the Contest Judging info form. Don’t hesitate to ask any questions ahead of time, too. We need all the help you can give!

That’s it for now. You’ll be hearing from me again in the next couple of weeks as we approach the contest deadline date of 11:59 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15.

Take care and have a safe start to 2024.

Dan
