Update: Daily and Sunday sections from March 16 through July 31 are eligible for optional entries.

Because the coronavirus pandemic caused nearly all sports worldwide to be stopped from the middle of March through the end of July, APSE has changed the mandatory time windows for the 2020 section contests. This change is in effect for this year only, and we expect to return to our normal time windows in next year’s contest.

  • Period 1: Jan. 1, 2020-March 15, 2020
  • Period 2: Aug. 1, 2020-Dec. 31, 2020

Daily and Sunday sections published between March 16 and July 31 are eligible for optional entries.

Using a random date choosing program, these are the mandatory dates from Period 1:

  • Daily: Week of Monday, January 13 through Saturday, January 19
  • Sunday: February 2
  • The digital contest has been torn down and rebuilt, and as a result, there are no mandatory dates assigned for the digital contest.

APSE will announce the mandatory dates for Period 2 on Dec. 31.Also coming soon: A detailed look at changes to the contest, and a Zoom meeting this fall for members to ask questions and discuss issues surrounding the contest.
