The Denver Post sports department is looking for a deputy editor to help manage an award-winning staff in a passionate sports town at the base of the Rocky Mountains. 

The Post is committed to providing outstanding coverage of the Broncos, Avalanche, Nuggets and Rockies as well as reporting key stories from the University of Colorado, Colorado State, University of Denver and local high schools. We are looking for someone to help elevate our coverage across all platforms in a competitive sports market. With that in mind, we are seeking a candidate who is smart about digital strategy and comfortable using analytics to make good decisions. We’re proud that our print portfolio was recently honored as one of the Top 10 in the nation by APSE and need a deputy editor who understands and values our print product. 

The candidate must reside in the Denver area or be willing to relocate. This position includes working nights, weekends and holidays as coverage demands.

Salary range is:  $65,000 – $72,000/yr

Among the deputy sports editor’s duties:

  • Collaborate with staff on story/event planning
  • Work with reporters on editing content for online and print
  • Help manage and produce the department’s digital content
  • Plan and oversee production of the print product
  • Produce stories and other content as needed
