The South Florida Sun Sentinel is looking for a strong voice and solid journalist for its next Miami Dolphins columnist.
Our ideal candidate can expertly analyze transactions and players, break down the salary cap in plain English and generate an abundance of engaging opinions about South Florida’s most storied sports franchise, on deadline. Qualified candidates must have proven experience building a loyal audience with a strong social media presence.
Although about 80% of the job is commentary and analysis, there is some news reporting involved. The columnist is also a journalist and must have experience developing sources and breaking news. Expect some travel and the need to sometimes scrap your evening plans to write a breaking story or column. South Florida is a highly competitive market, and we are looking for a journalist who thrives on competition and communicates well with editors and other reporters as part of a team.
Candidates should have at least five years’ experience covering an NFL team and some experience writing columns.
Please send resume, cover letter and five work samples (columns and news) to Sports Editor Kathy Laughlin at klaughlin@sunsentinel.com by Aug. 8.
No phone calls, please.
