The schedule is set for the APSE Regional Meeting in Everett on April 27. Things will get under way at 8:30 a.m. with a meet-and-greet and short introduction. The first session is at 9:15. We’ll be having beers by 5 p.m.
A complete schedule is below, with hotel information at the bottom. We have rooms reserved at two area hotels for Sunday and Monday, but you need to make reservations by Monday, April 20.
Sessions include: "Doing More with Less," "Making the Web work for you," "Psychotherapy for Sports Editors," "Improving Prep coverage," and "Life after Newspapers: What to do if the ax falls."
We’ll also have a "Best of the Northwest" slide show. E-mail PDFs of pages you’re proud of to Kevin Brown at kbrown@heraldnet.com by Tuesday, April 21. We’re looking for great covers, fun pages, cool features, good stories or projects, space-saving changes – anything that you’re proud to share with the group.
Most of the sessions will be roundtable discussions with a moderator, so bring your ideas, pages, suggestions and gripes and be prepared to join in. The final discussion on "Life After Newspapers" will include a panel of journalists who will bring their personal experiences to the table.
All in all, I think it will be a productive day of exchanging ideas, sharing war stories and just getting away from the stresses of our jobs. I think we could all use that – and a beer, too.
Send me an e-mail if you plan to attend by Tuesday, April 21 so we can get a head count.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Hope to see you on April 27.
