The first day of judging for the Website portion of APSE's annual contest took place earlier this week as 12 judges from an assortment of news organizations examined sites from more than 100 members. A second day of judging is to take place on an undisclosed date later this year.
The second day of judging — judges worked groups outside of their own circulation category to avoid conflicts — represents ongoing evolution for the Web portion of the contest, which debuted last year. In addition to a second day of judging, entries were divided into three categories this year, up from two. The three groups are: below 500,000 monthly unique visitors, 500,000 to under 2 million, 2 million and above.
A multimedia category also is being added to the contest. A description of the category will be published with the rest of the annual rules in mid-December, and entries will be due along with writing and print section entries.
Judging takes place Feb. 12-16 in Indianapolis and APSE is seeking judges. If you would like to judge, please message me at manastasi@sltrib.com or go to APSE's Judging page on Facebook.
