“Getting more involved with APSE and attending my first conference (in 2024) was a highlight of my professional year. There’s no gatekeeping with this crew. You’ll be spoiled with counsel and camaraderie from people who are serious about the craft. Best of all, there’s a little bit for everyone. If you want to hone your leadership skills, you’ve got a network of mentors to meet at a mixer. If you need help with recruitment (and don’t we all?) you’ll get in front of the best and brightest. Am I coming back? You bet.” — Nate Mink, sports editor, Syracuse.com/Advance Media NY
10/10. No notes.
Those of you that have been a member of APSE for awhile know what Nate is talking about in the testimonial that now lives atop our “Join APSE” page on the website.
Contests and conferences are only a part of why we’re going on our sixth decade of existence. To get through six more, those behind-the-scenes moments Nate describes above must continue. To experience them, and grow from them, you have to be a member, though.
It’s a perfect time to be reminded of what APSE is about, and what it can do for you, as we kick off our membership drive for the 2025 year, which also allows members to enter the 2024 APSE Contest.
Renewing your membership, or coming back to APSE for the first time in a while, right now will take your mind off having to scramble later in the year. Plus, our dues are not increasing in 2025, although we have made an adjustment to total circulation levels for legacy newsrooms that have print and digital subscribers. Those are noted on the membership page. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to me or other members of the leadership team.
Plus, did you know that, according to APSE bylaws, memberships should be paid by Oct. 15 of the year before? (Bylaw 2. C, if you’re so inclined to look.)
So click that button. Pay those dues. I look forward to being a part of APSE with you for 2025 and beyond.
Dan
