The APSE Foundation board is proud to launch a silent auction this year with all proceeds benefiting the APSE Diversity in Leadership Fellowship. In 2024 a class of six journalists has participated in the fellowship, which includes in-person training and participation in this month’s APSE Summer Conference in Charlotte, N.C.
The foundation has collected items from several benefactors and is seeking help with contributions. If you have an item you’d like to donate (a book you’ve written, swag from an event, tickets, sports memorabilia, etc.), the foundation would love to add it to the auction offerings. All items will be on display at the conference in Charlotte.
The foundation doesn’t have the capability to allow for electronic bidding this year, but if you are interested in an item please give your proxy for bidding to a board member or a fellow APSE member who will attend the summer conference. The goal is to raise as much as possible to support the diversity fellows.
Bidding will start Friday morning, June 21, and finish Saturday evening, June 22.
Here are some of the items up for auction:
- Baseball signed by Derek Jeter (donated by MLB)
- Baseball signed by commissioner Rob Manfred (donated by MLB)
- NHL jersey signed by Carolina Hurricanes (donated by NHL)
- Zach LaVine signed No. 8 jersey (donated by Chicago Bulls, size XL)
- NBA basketball signed by 2024 All-Stars (donated by NBA)
