Associated Press Sports Editors contest judging will be here before we know it, so now is the time to plan your trip to Las Vegas.

In-person judging for the 2026 APSE contest will again take place at the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa, 9777 Las Vegas Blvd. South, from Sunday, Feb. 28, through Thursday, March 4, 2027.

If you know you’ll be joining us in Las Vegas, we encourage you to book your room early. The 2027 Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament will also be in town that week, so don’t wait until the last minute.

APSE’s hotel rates are:

  • Saturday, Feb. 27: $125
  • Sunday, Feb. 28, through Thursday, March 4: $70 per night
  • Double occupancy is an additional $10 per night.

The prices shown through APSE’s booking link include the resort fee.

The deadline to book at the APSE rate is Feb. 6.

Book your room at the South Point here: HTTPS://BE.SYNXIS.COM/?HOTEL=11548&ARRIVE=2027-02-27&GROUP=APS0227&ROOMS=1&SRC=APS0227

You can also book directly through the hotel using the group code APS0227

Sign up to judge

Whether you’re planning to join us in Las Vegas or judge remotely, we also need you to sign up to help judge this year’s contest.

APSE’s contest depends on sports journalists and editors from across the country volunteering their time and expertise to recognize the best work in sports journalism.

Sign up to be a 2026 APSE contest judge here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeEBSjlXkaKRCGlug4gP79WASxgcxsXeBgZgKjIcTamsBOhxA/viewform?usp=sharing&ouid=106934267662759580932

If you’re interested in judging but aren’t sure yet whether you’ll be able to make it to Las Vegas, sign up as a remote judge for now. It’s much easier for us to switch you to in-person judging later if your plans change.

And if you already know you’ll be there in person, sign up now — and get that hotel room booked.

Please direct questions about contest judging to Erik Hall. For questions about the Winter Conference or hotel arrangements, contact John Bednarowski.

We hope to see plenty of familiar faces — and some new ones — in Las Vegas.
