Colin Beazley is the winner of the Associated Press Sports Editors’ 2024 student contest.
Beazley was the student contest runner-up in 2023 and this year finished atop a field of 46 student entries. Students submitted portfolios comprising three pieces. Entries came from undergraduate or graduate students enrolled at a college or university during summer 2023, fall 2023 or spring 2024 academic terms. Work came from the period of April 6, 2023, through April 6, 2024.
“I’m honored, and my overall feeling is one of surprise and pride,” Beazley said. “After finishing second last year, I’d hoped to win this year, but I can’t say I expected it to happen. I’m honored to win and thankful for the stories I got to tell.”
Beazley graduated from Villanova University in May and is freelancing in Los Angeles while searching for a full-time job.
