Central New York Newspapers, publishers of the Press & Sun-Bulletin in Binghamton, Star-Gazette in Elmira and the Ithaca Journal, is searching for a Night Sports Editor to direct the editing and presentation of our three newspapers and management of their websites. This is a hands-on position.
The successful candidate will manage a consolidated desk operation from our Binghamton office and often be the lead designer/editor on our sports covers. This position will report to the Regional Sports Editor and be the second-in-command of our sports operation. He or she will be a skilled story editor and strong planner and organizer who can find production efficiencies on a nightly basis. He or she will work collaboratively with reporters and editors at our three sites to make them happen.
The preferred candidate has at least 5 years of newspaper experience in a Web-first culture, a strong editing and design background and expert skills in Quark or InDesign and Photoshop. Demonstrated understanding of social media tools is essential and Saxotech experience is a plus. No beginners, please.
