The Martinsville Bulletin has an opening for a regional sports reporter who is a self-starter, knows how to turn a phrase, is fluent in digital media, has a knack for photography/video, and can identify and report stories from a broad base of perspectives.

This role is responsible primarily for coverage of high school and regional sports in Virginia’s Southside, which includes the cities of Martinsville and Danville and the counties of Henry, Patrick and Pittsylvania.

Assignments include major reporting about the Martinsville Speedway and the six NASCAR and related events it stages each year.

There also are community colleges, minor-league baseball and summer-league baseball and other sports.

The person in this position will be based primarily in Martinsville and work under the leadership of Sports Editor Cara Cooper, but also at times will work out of the office of the Danville Register & Bee. Both papers are owned by BH Media.
