Voting has opened for the 2025 Red Smith Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Associated Press Sports Editors organization.
Eligible voters have been given access to a voting form and have until March 10, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. to cast their vote. If you believe you are eligible but did not receive the form notification, please email Red Smith Award chairman Matt Pepin at matt.pepin@globe.com.
The nominees this year are: Thomas Boswell, Mark Whicker, Hal Bodley, Garry D. Howard, Dan Shaughnessy, Dick Young, Larry Merchant, Christina Kahrl, Paul Sullivan, Steve Politi, and Terry Pluto.
Boswell, Whicker, Bodley, Howard, and Shaughnessy were the five receiving the most votes behind 2024 winner Bill Plaschke and automatically returned to the 2025 ballot.

The 2025 Red Smith Award winner will be announced by the end of March, and honored at the 2025 APSE Summer Conference in Minneapolis.
