Two sports editors have been appointed to fill region vice chair positions that had been vacant, APSE president Paul Barrett announced.
Steve Wiseman, the sports editor at The News & Observer in Raleigh, N.C., is the new vice chair in the Southeast Region and will work with region chair Patrick Obley. Wiseman, a longtime college basketball writer, moved into the sports editor role in May.
Jeff Patterson, the sports editor at The Daily Oklahoman, is the new vice chair in the Midwest Region and will work with region chair Aaron Ferguson. Patterson joined The Oklahoman in 2017 and moved into the sports editor role in 2019. He is a former chair and vice chair in the Great Plains region, and the regions have since been realigned.

Region vice chairs serve two-year terms before ascending to region chairs for another two-year term.
A 2025 amendment to the APSE bylaws allows a vice chair role to be filled without an election, as determined by regional membership and the APSE president.
