To all APSE members,
We have a venue for judging. We will be making a return trip to the South Point Hotel Casino and Spa. The dates will be Feb. 28-March 4, 2027.
Why here and why those dates?
Following the completion of the winter conference last month, there were a few concerns about the lack of space to spread out and the inability to take our reading outside.
I was also asked to go to the Orleans, the Palms, and the Silverton as potential options.
Only the Orleans could make a comparable offer, but we would be in a similar situation there, without a chance to go back by the pool.
Which brings us back to South Point.
They agreed to give us more meeting space, as we should have four meeting rooms all week.
With judging starting on March 1, they guaranteed us pool access, as that is the day it officially opens.
But the biggest thing is the rates.
By going a week later, our rates will be $125 on Saturday, the 27th, for anyone who wants to arrive early, and then $70 per day from Sunday through Thursday.
I also believe this threads a needle in scheduling, as it will avoid the NFL Combine, which is expected to be the last week of Feb. and the NCAA Tournament will not begin until March 16.
