Saturday, July 1, is the deadline to register for the APSE summer conference, July 9-12 at the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel and Casino.

We’re expecting a strong turnout as we celebrate the 50th year of our organization. More than 140 people are registered so far, and the event promises to be a fun gathering and reunion of sorts.

Highlights include the opening reception at the Mob Museum; NBA commissioner Adam Silver as our keynote speaker; Claire Smith receiving the Red Smith Award; and the annual APSE awards dinner celebrating the best sports journalism of the past year. The APSE at 50 general session, which follows the Red Smith luncheon on Tuesday, will feature many of the most prominent sports editors in our history. More than 20 former presidents are expected to attend.
