Emily Horos of the American News is the new vice chair of the Great Lakes Region.

Horos is in her fourth year of involvement of APSE. She has already been part of the Diversity Fellowship program, Class of 2014, where she attended the winter judging conference in Indianapolis, and the summer convention in Washington, D.C. She also attended summer conventions in San Diego (2015) and Charlotte (2016) as well as winter judging in 2016.
Horos was the vice chair of the Southeast Region prior to accepting her current position in Aberdeen, S.D. She also serves on the website and diversity committees in the APSE.
Horos is entering her second year as the sports editor of the American News. Prior to that, she served as the sports editor at the Cherokee Tribune in Canton, GA. She spent five years working her way up the Times Journal Inc., ladder with stops at in the Neighbor Newspaper offices, the company’s group of weekly papers, and as a writer for the Marietta Daily Journal.
Horos also spent two years as page design editor at the Bradenton Herald in Florida, and she also spent time as assistant sports editor for the Journal/Messenger in Seneca, S.C.
Horos is originally from Oil City, Pa., and a proud alum of Penn State University where she graduated with a double major
