The Associated Press Sports Editors Mid-Atlantic Region meeting is scheduled this Monday, Dec. 7, at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel in State College, Pa.

You do not have to be an APSE member to attend. Members of the Association for Women in Sports Media and interested students also are invited to a day of exciting seminars.

The program begins at 8:30 a.m. with registration and a continental breakfast and will conclude no later than 4 p.m.

The $25 fee includes the program, continental breakfast and lunch.

Here is a look at the program (subject to change):

8:30 a.m.: Continental breakfast/registration

9-10 a.m.: Pumping up your Preps.

With more Web sites trying to horn in on high school coverage, newspapers, and their Web sites, are faced with developing different and more extensive ways to cover high schools without increasing staff.

10:15 am-11:15 am: Making the Big Event Yours.

Whether it’s the Olympics, the Super Bowl or a major local event, we will look at ideas to put your own stamp on the coverage. This panel will have an emphasis on ideas and planning to enhance your coverage beyond the wire.

11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Help Me! The Challenge Panel.

What are the biggest challenges you are facing right now? Not enough staff or space or difficult employees? A group conversation about ways to work through those challenges with an emphasis on practical solutions. Attendees will be asked to provide examples in advance of the meeting to help facilitate the discussion.

12:45-1:45 p.m.: Lunch and the "Reverse Panel"

Students from the Center for Sports Journalism at Penn State take part in a session in which they ask questions of us about the future of the business, or anything they want.

2 p.m.-2:30: Region meeting

Discussion will focus on region business.

2:45-4 p.m. Best ideas/Section critiques.
