Trib Total Media is seeking a dynamic, innovative, high-energy leader to direct digital and print coverage of professional, college and high school sports in our highly competitive Pittsburgh-area market.
The successful candidate will lead a 10-person staff and collaborate with editors from the company’s two daily print editions, our digital desk (triblive.com<http://triblive.com>) and successful High School Sports Network to deliver compelling content that moves us forward in overall audience engagement.
This editor will be an experienced wordsmith, skilled communicator and effective coach who looks beyond game coverage to produce solid enterprise reporting, breaking news exclusives and other written and visual content that our readers won’t find elsewhere.
While coverage of Pittsburgh’s pro hockey, football and baseball teams drives our analytics, our audience also demands up-to-the-minute reports about local college programs and year-round coverage of the region’s robust high school sports scene.
The ability to interpret audience and social media metrics to develop coverage and presentation strategies is essential. It will be crucial for this editor to maintain a collegial, collaborative relationship with editorial peers and staff elsewhere in our company to achieve our organization’s overall growth goals.
Applicants should have a college degree in journalism or a related field and at least four years of experience guiding sports coverage for a daily news operation.
