By Mary Byrne, APSE Second Vice President

The Clarion-Ledger staffers Courtney Cronin, Chris Thomas and Nick Talbot took first place in the Associated Press Sports Editors 2013 contest in the multimedia category for 500,000 to 2 million unique visitors.

They will be presented with a first-place plaque at the 2014 APSE banquet June 28 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Va.

The winning entry consisted of three episodes of "Beyond the Game: Inside Malik Newman's recuitment." The exclusive series detailed the high-profile interest in the nation's top-ranked junior.

Chris Pietsch and Brian Davies of The Register-Guard (Eugene, Ore.) finished second, while Chris White of the Athens (Ga.) Banner-Herald was third. The top 12 is listed below with links, when available, to each entry.

In early March, judges at the APSE Winter Conference in Indianapolis selected a top 12.

The contest is open to APSE members. Go to this link to join.
