The 2015 Southeast Region meeting has been scheduled for April 20 in Birmingham, Ala., at the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.

The meeting will run from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CDT. A final agenda will be released closer to the meeting date, but the program will include:

Headline headaches: Sometimes readers take offense and are driven to outrage by a headline (or photo or story, or a combination thereof). How do you handle it when this happens? How do you deal with their wrath and regain the trust and goodwill of your readership? Panelists: Dana Sulonen of the Opelika-Auburn News and Tommy Deas of The Tuscaloosa News.

Friday Night Lights, Cameras and Action: Getting the most out of high school football coverage is a priority everywhere. Panelists Courtney Cronin of The Clarion-Ledger, Joe Schiefelbein of The Advocate and John Bednarowski of the Marietta Daily Journal will examine how they get readers involved with coverage on game day and how to keep them engaged after the game, the next week and year-round.

College Student Roundtable: Students attending from around the Southeast will take part in a discussion of what they expect as they head into the job market, and what they can expect in the increasingly competitive world of sports journalism. This will be followed by a resume critique and conversation with sports editors in attendance. Chaired by Tim Stephens of Sportsmanias.

Please email John Bednarowski at johnbednarowski@gmail.com if you plan to attend.
