Mark H. Coons, a sports copy editor at The Scranton Times-Tribune, died Thursday after suffering a pulmonary embolism. He was 42. Coons was a lifelong resident of Jermyn, Pa., and had worked at The Times-Tribune since 2005. He also covered high school baseball and semi-pro football for the newspaper. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals and Philadelphia Flyers, and was a historian of sports of all sorts in Northeast Pennsylvania.
