  • A.J. Allmendinger joined NBC as an auto racing analyst.
  • Tom Bone retired as a sports writer at The Bluefield (West Virginia) Daily Telegraph.
  • Rory Brown announced his departure as Bleacher Report president.
  • Chris Carr was named the new sports editor for the Minneapolis Star Tribune. He was previously the paper’s deputy sports editor.
  • Mike Davis retired as sports editor at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
  • George Diaz retired as a sports writer at the Orlando Sentinel.
  • Patrick Engel announced he joined the Journal Gazette and Times-Courier in Charleston, Illinois, as a sports reporter.
  • Matt Feld said he is departing from the Boston Herald as a high school sports reporter to join the Chicago Cubs organization.
  • Eric Goudreau was named acting sports editor for the Ipswich Chronicle, North Andover Citizen, Georgetown Record, Swampscott Reporter, and the Tri-Town Transcript in Massachusetts.
  • Betsy Helfand took a position with the St. Paul (Minnesota) Pioneer Press to cover the Minnesota Twins. She was previously with the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
  • Gene Henley joined the Chattanooga (Tennessee) Times Free Press to cover Tennessee athletics.
  • Josh Hermsmeyer joined FiveThirtyEight as a football analyst and writer.
  • Charlie Hildebrand announced he joined the Aberdeen (South Dakota) American News as a sports reporter.
  • Lee Horton has been named sports editor of the Sun Journal in Lewiston, Maine
  • Matt Jennings announced his departure from TCU Rivals for a job outside sports journalism.
  • Jason Lieser joined the Chicago Sun-Times to cover the Chicago Blackhawks.
  • Patrick MacCoon joined the Chattanooga (Tennessee) Times Free Press as a sports writer.
  • Francois McGillicuddy took over as president of Big Ten Network.
  • Jared McMurry started as sports editor at the Journal Review in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
  • Courtney Mims became sports director at WMBB-TV
  • John Naughton announced his retirement from the Des Moines (Iowa) Register after 31 years as a sports writer.
  • Tim Neverett departed WEEI as Boston Red Sox radio play-by-play broadcaster.
  • Scott Nuzum left as sports editor at the Fort Scott (Kansas) Tribune after a 23-year career.  
  • Kim Orendor returned to The Davis Enterprise in Yolo County, California, as sports editor. She previously held the position from 1994-2004.  
  • Luis Paez-Pumar joined Deadspin as a staff writer.
  • Craig Pearson accepted the sports editor position at the News and Tribune in Jeffersonville and New Albany, Indiana. He was previously a sports writer and copy editor at the Tribune-Star in Terre Haute, Indiana.  
  • Matt Rawlings announced his departure covering sports for Pamplin Media Group in Oregon. He joined the Keizertimes in Keizer, Oregon, as associate editor.
  • Stephanie Ready joined Turner as an NBA analyst. She previously worked at FOX Sports Southeast as an analyst for the Charlotte Hornets.
  • John Romano returned to sports coverage at the Tampa Bay Times. He’d been a metro writer for seven years.
  • Ron Rosner announced his departure as sports editor at the Daily Freeman in Kingston, New York, and he was replaced by Nick Richardson. Rosner joined The Saratogian and Troy Record as senior editor.
  • Bryce Rudd departed as sports writer from the Murray (Kentucky) Ledger and Times.
  • Mark Rudi left the Las Cruces (New Mexico) Sun-News as a sports writer for a public relations position.
  • Jay Sanderson resigned as play-by-play broadcaster for Montana State.
  • JJ Seaward accepted a sports reporter position with The Fort Morgan (Colorado) Times and the Brush (Colorado) News-Tribune.
  • Alex Shoemaker moved to the Baton Rouge (Louisiana) Advocate as a digital content editor.
  • Tyler Waldrep started covering high school sports and Florida State football for the Panama City (Florida) News Herald.
  • Derrick Webb joined the Portsmouth Daily Times in Scioto County, Ohio, to cover high school sports. He was previously with 11W.
  • Mike Wise joined Sports Illustrated as a contributor and WUSA9 as a digital journalist.
  • The Beaumont (Texas) Enterprise added sports editor Thomas Scott and promoted Matt Faye to the newspaper’s new Sunday sports columnist. Scott was formerly of the Selma (Alabama) Times-Journal.
  • The Chicago Tribune offered buyouts, and they were accepted by sports editor Joe Knowles, copy editor Rich Martin, page designer Mike Miner, editor Ken Paxson, and sports columnist Steve Rosenbloom.
  • ESPN added Jon Champion, Dimitri Filipovic and Jeff Passan. Champion will be the main play-by-play voice for MLS games. Filipovic will cover the NHL. Passan will cover MLB. Ryan Spoon received a promotion to overseeing ESPN.com.
  • FOX added Pat McAfee as an NFL analyst and Jamie McMurray as an auto racing analyst.
  • MassLive added John Karalis to cover the Boston Celtics and Jason Kates to cover high school sports.
  • MLB.com added Juan Toribio to cover the Tampa Rays. He was previously with The Athletic. Joe Trezza moved to cover the Baltimore Orioles for MLB.com after covering the St. Louis Cardinals in 2018.
  • The Seattle Times promoted metro producer Sean Quinton to assistant sports editor, and Stef Loh was promoted from assistant sports editor to features editor.
  • The Washington Post added Mark Bradley as a multiplatform editor on the sports night desk. He was previously sports editor at The Palm Beach (Florida) Post. Chelsea Janes announced her departure from the Washington Nationals beat to cover the 2020 presidential campaign.
  • Yahoo! Sports brought on Seerat Sohi to cover the NBA full-time and added Akshay Mirchandani as a social media editor.
