The APSE Northwest Region Meeting featured about 40 total sports editors, reporters, college journalists and guests. It started with a dissection of everyone's Super Bowl coverage and ended with a great exchange between student journalists and sports editors.

Thanks to everyone who attended the session at The Seattle Times. A high-five to Jerrel Swenning of the Yakima Herald-Republic sports editor for organizing, ending his two-year run as region chair. Seth Prince of The Oregonian now moves up to chair the region, with an election coming soon to decide between two great vice-chair candidates Nathan Joyce of The Kitsap Sun and Ed Guzman of The Seattle Times. Especially gratifying was the great turnout from smaller papers and students. Steve Mattheis of The Herald & News in Klamath Falls, Ore., came the farthest _ a 12-hour train ride each way. Special credit to Michael-Shawn Dufar, who took his last final exam at Washington State University on Monday morning, drove across the state and arrived at 2 p.m. Student journalists listen to editors during the final session.
