CHANGING WITH THE TIMES 9:15-10:30 a.m.
A look at how journalism programs have changed to include new media, and what we should expect from recent graduates when our hiring freezes end. Panelists include Malcolm Moran, Knight Chair in Sports Journalism and Society and director of the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism at Penn State University.

A NEW SPORTS INFORMATION 10:40-Noon
A look at how the role of Sports Information Directors have changed over recent years. They now direct Web sites with breaking news, orgranize Facebook pages, Twitter accounts, post video, etc. Sound familiar? How do we work together as we both move forward. Panelists include Michael Enright, director of athletic communications, University of Connecticut, and Rusty Eggen, sports information director, WPI.

COVERING A TRAGEDY 1:30-2:30 p.m.
Members of the Hartford Courant discuss coverage of the murder of University of Connecticut football player Jasper Howard. Mike Enright will also join us in the discussion.

BUSINESS MEETING 3:30 – 4 p.m.
The baton is passed to Boston.com sports editor Matt Pepin, who begins his two-year term as chairman of the region. A vice chair will be selected at this time. Updates on judging, 2010 national convention and 2011 national convention in Boston.

 

SUNDAY

A social gathering and business meeting will take place Sunday, Nov. 15.

We will attend an AHL game between the Hartford Wolfpack and Worcester Sharks at 3:05 p.m. We will meet at 2 p.m. outside the DCU Center. We will attend dinner at 7 p.m., with Patriots and Colts the Sunday night game.
