The Orlando Sentinel seeks a sports content editor to take a leading role in our award-winning sports department. The sports content editor based in Orlando will work closely with columnists, reporters and bloggers for both the Orlando Sentinel and South Florida Sun-Sentinel in print and online and will serve as the ranking night sports editor for both the Orlando Sentinel and South Florida Sun-Sentinel. The editor also will take a leading role in digital planning and enterprise for both APSE top-10 websites.

DUTIES
–Serve as point of communication between editors, reporters, producers and print production teams at night.
–Make news-judgment and story placement decisions on web and in print in coordination with other editors.
–Take leading role in digital content creation, innovation, strategy and implementation of new products.
–Work with columnists, reporters and bloggers on strategic content creation, ideas and best practices.
–Book the daily sports section for both markets and deliver a clear production plan to the night production teams.
–Ensure quality control, attention to detail and synergy across both web sites at night.

QUALIFICATIONS
–Proven managerial experience working closely with reporters to help good ideas become great.
–Proven track record of producing ambitious, engaging, informative and enterprising content in print and online.
–Strong planning, editing, digital and communication skills.
–Demonstrated knowledge of sports issues.
–Demonstrated expertise in digital trends, developments and best practices.
–An understanding of how to use social media to expand our reach.
