New York Times sports editor Joe Sexton is leaving for a senior editor job at ProPublica

The shermanreport.com polnts out Sexton recently made headlines for The Times' partially blank sports front in response to the Baseball Hall of Fame announcement.

Sexton, 53, played a role in three recent Pulitzer Prizes for the Times. 

"I've received a great offer," Sexton wrote in an email to the Times sports staff obtained by jimromenesko.com. "I leave you and the (New York Times) burdened only by a great deat — of thanks and wonder."
