Newsday has an opening for a New York Islanders beat writer. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years’ experience covering a pro sports beat in a competitive market.  We are looking for an aggressive sports reporter who understands the importance of filing and updating stories quickly and accurately to all our platforms. Candidate must have a demonstrated ability to engage readers on social media and conceptualize stories that play well across all platforms.

Newsday is also hiring a New York Mets beat writer.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years reporting, writing and multimedia experience in business working for major news outlets.
  • Some video experience
  • Ability to work in a deadline driven environment
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
