Region meetings at various locations and the annual APSE Commissioners Meeting in New York City make up an active April for APSE members. Here is a rundown, with links to more details:

A visit from new Penn State football coach Bill O'Brien is among the highlights of the APSE Mid-Atlantic regional meeting on April 10 in State College, Pa.

The Southeast Region meeting is set for Monday, April 16, at the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in Birmingham, Ala. Sessions will include a look at sports reporters taking roles in coverage of big non-sports stories, a look at the future of tablets and apps, a roundtable with conference commissioners about the future of college sports and look at how to recover when beaten on a big story.

APSE's annual commissioners meetings are set for April 19-20 in New York City. Sessions include visits by NASCAR Chairman Brian France, Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber, NBA Commissioner David Stern, Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig, NCAA President Mark Emmert, National Hockey League Commissioner Gary Bettman and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

The Great Lakes Region meetings begin with an April 22 visit to Detroit to watch the Tigers take on the Texas Rangers. Sessions are April 23 at the Oakland Press in Pontiac, and will include sessions on multimedia, covering the NFL Draft, community engagement, Google Voice and hiring principles.

The Northwest Region meeting is set for Monday, May 7, at the Oregonian in Portland. It will include Q-and-A sessions with The Associated Press and the Oregon School Activities Association, as well as looks at big-event coverage, common mistakes among sports editors and covering high schools via new media.
