Keith Campbell of the Dallas Morning News and Jon Styf of the Beaumont Enterprise have become chairman and vice chairman of the Southwest Region.
They were chosen during the Southwest Region meeting July 22-23 in Austin.
Campbell has been deputy sports editor at the Morning News for the past 4 ½ years and has worked there since 1990. He has been the region’s vice chairman, coordinating our region’s writing contest and helping to organize the region meeting.
During the meeting, he spoke about big event coverage – which makes sense, considering that Dallas hosted the Super Bowl, World Series and NBA Finals in the past year.
Styf joined the staff of the Beaumont Enterprise last September and quickly had to direct coverage of a star high school quarterback who died during a game. Styf spoke about that experience at the regional meeting during a panel discussion on high school football.
