Jeff Rosen, President
Jeff has been Assistant Managing Editor/Sports at The Kansas City Star since December 2010. In 2012, he guided The Star’s coverage team to its first APSE Grand Slam. He spent the previous six years at the Houston Chronicle, serving as copy editor, then assistant sports editor and deputy sports editor.
Jeff got his start in the business as a GA reporter/photographer at the weekly Chaffee County Times in Buena Vista, Colo., and has also worked at the Twin Falls (Idaho) Times-News, the Kitsap (Wash.) Sun and the Journal of the San Juan Islands in Friday Harbor, Wash.
A native of the Pacific Northwest, he attended the University of Washington and has served as a region chair and Commissioners Meetings committee chair. He and his wife, Tammy, reside in Shawnee, Kan., and have three children.
John Bednarowski, First Vice President
John began his career in 2001 while still in college at UAB. He worked as a stringer for former APSE president Tim Stephens at the now-defunct Birmingham Post-Herald. From there, he went to the St. Clair News Aegis in Pell City, Ala., as a one-man sports department.
In 2004, he was hired as a sports writer at the Gadsden Times in Gadsden, Ala. Two years later, he landed at the Marietta Daily Journal as sports editor, where he has been ever since. He has also served as second vice president, third vice president, Southeast Region chair and vice chair.
Todd Adams, Second Vice President
Todd has been Sports Editor at the Springfield (Ill.) State Journal-Register since December 2016, following a stint as sports content coach with the Detroit Free Press. Before Detroit, Todd held sports editor and assistant sports editor jobs at the San Diego Union-Tribune and Orlando Sentinel/South Florida Sun-Sentinel, respectively. He was sports editor at the Fayetteville Observer in North Carolina and the Aurora Beacon News in Aurora, Ill. He started his career in Illinois with jobs at The Pantagraph (in Bloomington), the Mount Vernon Register-News and the Naperville Sun.
An Illinois native, Todd is a graduate of Southern Illinois University. He has headed up APSE’s Regions Committee and served as Atlantic Coast region chair and vice chair. His first APSE summer conference was in Las Vegas in 2006.
Robert Gagliardi, Third Vice President
Robert Gagliardi is the senior editor of WyoSports, the combined efforts of the sports departments of the Wyoming Tribune Eagle in Cheyenne and the Laramie Boomerang. A University of Wyoming graduate and Wyoming native, Gagliardi helped guide the Wyoming Tribune Eagle to four consecutive APSE Grand Slam
