APSE Great Plains Regional Meeting

Tulsa World

315 S. Boulder Ave., Tulsa, Okla.

·        If you’re planning to attend the meeting, please email michael.peters@tulsaworld.com<mailto:michael.peters@tulsaworld.com>. We need to have names for our security desk, and we will also be getting you information about Sunday’s baseball game.

·        There is no cost to attend. Our meeting is open to editors, reporters and students.

·        The World does not have its own parking lot. All street parking is free after 5 p.m. on weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday. There are also two parking garages and three pay surface lots within two blocks of the World.

·        Be aware of Mayfest, the annual spring arts festival in downtown Tulsa. Many streets in downtown will be blocked for the festival (including Third, Fourth and Main streets adjacent to the World building), and the area around the World will be more crowded than normal. But Mayfest doesn’t open until 11 a.m. Sunday, which should help us beat the crowds.

·        There are several downtown hotels within varying degrees of walking distance to the World. The closest are the Hyatt Regency Tulsa (less than two blocks), the Courtyard Marriott Downtown (less than four blocks) and the Mayo Hotel (less than six blocks). Other downtown hotels within walking distance are the Fairfield Inn and Suites Tulsa Downtown, the Aloft Tulsa Downtown and the Doubletree Downtown.

·        Two of the most popular hotels outside of downtown — both about a 15-minute drive from the World — are the Tulsa Marriott Southern Hills and the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tulsa. There are also numerous less expensive options.

·        If you are flying, please let us know. We will try to arrange someone to come pick you up from the airport so you can avoid that cost.
