Advance Media New York is looking for a high school sports lead producer.
The coverage will be geared toward the kids playing the games. We’ll use social media and video to deliver content to kids where they’re at. There are thousands of kids who play sports in Section III and all of them have an amazing story to tell. Your job will be to help tell those stories.
The high school sports lead will manage a team with one full-time reporter and a part-time staff of data clerks. You’ll also have access to reporters from the full sports staff to help tell stories on the high school beat. In addition, you’ll be a player-coach and while leading our high school staff, you will do your own original reporting and digital story-telling through video and social media.
You should be able to demonstrate the ability to tell stories in a variety of ways: enterprise, video, non-traditional and surprising stories.
We work fast in sports and it’s an ever-changing environment. You’ll need to be comfortable working quickly and being able to deal with change in this digital environment.
In addition to your high school duties, you might also be called upon to pitch in with other sports and fill in for the sports editor as needed.
The position will require night and weekend work.
