The Executive Committee has unanimously approved Doubletree Suites by Hilton Orlando in Walt Disney World Resort as the site for APSE's Feb 9-13, 2013 winter meetings (judging).
All rooms are suites, and the fee per night is $135. The room rate also will be good three days before and three days after our meetings.
The hotel is located on Hotel Plaza Boulevard in the Downtown Disney Resort Area. It is just a half mile from Downtown Disney‚ which features shopping‚ dining and entertainment.
Some of the venue options include: Cirque du Soleil‚ House of Blues‚ Wolfgang Puck’s Grand Cafe‚ Planet Hollywood‚ Rainforest Cafe‚ Gloria Estefan’s Bongos Restaurant. A five-minute walk in the other direction will take you to almost every chain restaurant imaginable and also to Goodings Supermarket, which is open 24 hours.
Complimentary transportation is provided by the hotel to the four major Disney Theme parks on a continuous basis throughout the day‚ and nightly to Downtown Disney.
The 2013 winter meetings originally were scheduled for Indianapolis, but the hotelAPSE booked is changing from a hotel to permanent residences and a multiuse facility for IUPUI. APSE is looking in to going back to Indianapolis in 2014, a Winter Olympics year, which will mean an early March date and a lower chanceof bad winter weather.
