For both large and small, there’s big payoff for investigations

Whether it's a four-person crew at the Southeast Missourian or the slightly larger staff of the Los Angeles Times, the resources and time necessary to produce quality investigative journalism are always stretched relatively thin. The payoff from remaining determined to pursue the story you know is there, however, is well worth the effort involved, as Antelope Valley Press sports editor Toby Carrig and L.A. Times investigative reporter Lance Pugmire pointed out at this month's APSE West Region meeting in Los Angeles.

Cherwa back at home at the L.A. Times

Sports info directors ponder change in industry, technology

Five members of the sports information industry were panelists during this month's APSE Mid-Atlantic region meeting at the News & Observer in Raleigh. The discussion — which varied from credentialing issues to social media to lesser coverage from traditional print media to more coverage from online outlets — was informative, at times entertaining, and was helpful to both sides of the aisle.
