Presidents of APSE have long been recognized as leaders in the industry. Many have gone on to national roles, many beyond sports. But their interest in APSE’s success continues.

Past presidents were asked to support APSE’s diversity efforts with the seeding of a new annual fund, the Presidents’ Fund. The presidents — representing all eras of APSE’s history — responded with donations totaling $800.

Attendees at the annual conference in San Diego gave an additional $700 — raising a total of $1,500.

As APSE prepares to mark a significant milestone with the selection of the fifth class of its Diversity Fellowship Program, support of the program appears to be strong with numerous individual and institutional sponsors.

Members of the fourth graduating class received their diplomas in San Diego at the annual awards banquet, now bring the total number of graduates of the program to 15.

The application period for the fifth class begins Aug. 1 and ends Aug. 31. APSE’s Diversity Fellowship Program is a nine-month, fully-funded training fellowship in management and leadership for mid-career female and diverse sports journalists of any age.
